This is how Huelva Day 2025 went

On January 24, 2025, Huelva celebrated its traditional ‘Huelva Day’ At the Casa Colón, as part of the San Sebastián festivities, several awards were presented to individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the development and prestige of the city.

The ceremony was presided over by Mayor Pilar Miranda, who emphasized the importance of recognizing the effort and dedication of the award recipients. She also called for a “grand pact for Huelva” and stressed that “it is time to do justice for Huelva,” referring to the pending infrastructure projects.

Among the most notable recognitions, flamenco singer María López Tristancho, known artistically as Argentina, was named a Favorite Daughter of the city. Additionally, Luis Enguita Melendo was posthumously named an Adopted Son of Huelva in honor of his legacy and contributions.

Medals of the City of Huelva

The City Medals were awarded to various individuals and organizations:

• Business: Esteban Sánchez Bernabé, founder of Grupo Trans Onuba (GTO).
• Work: Soledad Mora Abril.
• Citizen Participation: José Luis Rebollo.
• Solidarity: Virgen de la Cinta Soup Kitchen.
• Culture: Francisco Ortiz Pérez de León.
• Equality: La Alegría Women’s Association.
• Art: José Luis Rodríguez, known artistically as José Luis de la Paz, posthumously.
• Tradition: Brotherhood of the Redemption.
• Communication: COPE Huelva Radio Station.
• Huelva Promotion: Jesús de Fariña.

In addition, the incorporation of new names into the city’s street names was approved, including: National Police, Local Police, Teodoro Bernal Serradilla, Juan Romero Márquez, Our Lady of Solitude, and the Cintera Devotion Roundabout.

The day was marked by recognition of the work and dedication of those honored, as well as by the reaffirmation of the city’s commitment to its development and progress.

Recognizing the individuals and organizations that work daily for the development, culture, solidarity, and essence of Huelva has been an indescribable honor.
