S22 Digital at the presentation at CUNEF: ‘The Meaning and Importance of the Rule of Law’

The collective work “The Meaning and Importance of the Rule of Law” was presented at the University CUNEF, where a group of experts examines the current state of this fundamental principle in Spain. The authors, Adolfo Menéndez, State Attorney before the Court of Auditors, and Juan José Torres Fernández, Chief State Attorney of the Supreme Court, collaborated with Tomás Ramón Fernández, Professor of Law, and Daniel Berzosa, Coordinator of Constitutional Law and Fundamental Rights at CUNEF.

This book analyzes the state of the rule of law in the country and offers proposals to improve the legal system through the use of the courts and available legal avenues. Menéndez emphasizes the need to respect the laws, while Torres Fernández highlights Article 9 of the Constitution, which subjects citizens and authorities to compliance with the law.

Furthermore, the book explores how technology affects society, expressing concerns about the influence of algorithms and the concentration of power in large technology companies.

A copy of this book has been presented to King Felipe VI.
