Highlights of the 4th Conference on the Sociology of Gender

The Centre for Sociological Research (CIS) organised the 4th Conference on the Sociology of Gender on 6 and 7 March 2025, in commemoration of International Women’s Day. This year, the event focused on women and politics, with the participation of prominent figures from the political and academic fields.

Among the guests were the former Deputy Prime Minister of the Government and current President of the Council of State, Carmen Calvo, and the Sociology professor at the University of Illinois, Barbara Risman. The event also included the presentation of the study “Perceptions of equality between men and women and gender stereotypes” by María Belén Romero, director of the CIS Data Bank Department, and Silvia García Ramos, director of the CIS Research Department.

The conference took place at the CIS headquarters in Madrid and was streamed live via its YouTube channel.
