Celebration and context

On October 24 and 25, 2023, the city of Valencia hosted the 12th edition of the ECAC/EU Dialogue with the European air transport industry, under the theme “Flying sustainably: from slogan to reality.” This important triennial forum brought together key policymakers, representatives of European institutions, and leaders from the aeronautical industry to discuss the present and future of the sector.

A high-level event with impeccable execution

The event was organized by the agency S22 Digital, whose involvement was key to ensuring the excellent logistical and communicative execution of the conference. From technical production to meticulous attention to detail in the stage design, as well as institutional coordination, international participation, and the event’s sustainability, S22 Digital guaranteed a high-level professional environment that enhanced the quality of the exchanges among attendees.

The result was an effective meeting, highly valued by the delegates and with a significant impact on the European aviation agenda.

Participation and objectives

The forum brought together more than 150 representatives, including Directors General of Civil Aviation from ECCAS member states, CDTI officials, airline leaders, airport operators, air navigation service providers, manufacturers, and industry associations. Its purpose was to create a space for open and technical dialogue between regulators and the private sector, in the context of profound transformation of air transport.

Thematic areas: sustainability and future

The program addressed the sustainability of the aviation sector from a three-pronged perspective:

  • Environmental: reducing CO₂ emissions, promoting sustainable aviation fuels (SAFs), and clean technologies.
  • Social: improving employment, gender equality, and attracting young and diverse talent.
  • Economic: smart regulation, fair competition, and improved connectivity, especially in peripheral and island regions.

The need for coordinated action between industry and authorities to accelerate the green transition of air transport without losing competitiveness was reaffirmed.

Conclusions and legacy

The ECAC/EU Dialogue 2023 concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to promote a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive European aviation, in line with the continent’s climate goals. The final declaration emphasized:

  • Investing in R&D for new technologies.
  • Incentivize SAF production.
  • Ensure the transformation is fair and territorially balanced.

Thanks to the impeccable organization of S22 Digital, this meeting is a landmark in the European aviation roadmap towards 2050.
