The berrea (deer rut) is a natural phenomenon that occurs in different parts of the world, but one of the most notable places to observe this unique spectacle is Cabañeros National Park, in Spain. The berrea, also known as the deer rutting season, is a reproductive behaviour that manifests itself through the guttural sounds males make to attract females and compete with other males for the right to reproduce. Cabañeros, located in the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo, is one of the most important natural areas of the Iberian Peninsula and is home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. During the rut, this park becomes an impressive stage where the red deer (Cervus elaphus) are the protagonists.

The rut generally takes place in autumn, specifically in the months of September and October, when the days begin to shorten and temperatures drop.
