Day 1 – May 14: Institutional Welcome and Connection with Cultural Heritage

The 2nd International Forum on Electric and Hydrogen Mobility began on May 14 with an official reception in front of the Cáceres City Hall at 7:00 p.m. Attendees then took part in an enriching guided tour of the city’s historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This activity offered participants—from the business, institutional, and academic spheres—an opportunity to connect with Extremadura’s cultural legacy in a relaxed, conversational setting.

The opening day concluded with a welcome dinner, providing a valuable first opportunity for informal networking among speakers, project promoters, institutional representatives, and potential international investors.

Day 2 – May 15: Strategic Dialogue and Boosting Cooperation

The main program took place at the iconic Castle of Arguijuela de Abajo, a setting that seamlessly combined heritage with technological innovation. After a welcome coffee at 9:15 a.m. and the accreditation process, the session opened with a welcome video from the President of the Regional Government of Extremadura, Ms. María Guardiola, who emphasized the region’s strong commitment to sustainable mobility based on clean energy.

The official opening of the event was led by the Regional Minister of Economy, Employment, and Digital Transformation, Mr. Guillermo Santamaría, who highlighted Extremadura’s role as a strategic hub in Europe’s energy transition.

Opening Keynote

MEP Susana Solís delivered the opening keynote address, focusing on relations with China and underscoring the importance of international alliances to secure the supply of key technologies such as batteries, electrolyzers, and charging infrastructure.

Thematic Roundtables: Knowledge, Vision, and Cooperation

Throughout the morning, three roundtable discussions were held, featuring national and international experts:

1. Green Hydrogen: Energy Driver of the Transition
   This session focused on the potential of hydrogen as an energy storage vector and the progress in its production through renewable sources. Regulatory and logistical challenges for large-scale implementation were also discussed.
2. Challenges and Opportunities in Electric Vehicles
   Speakers addressed both technical and strategic aspects such as range, charging infrastructure, costs, and public acceptance of electric vehicles. Several panelists emphasized the need for public incentives and strong public-private cooperation.
3. China and Spain: Alliances for Secure Investment and Trade
   This final roundtable offered a geostrategic perspective on commercial relations with China at a critical time for Europe’s positioning in the global technology landscape. Priority sectors and win-win collaboration models were identified.
4. Closing Remarks and Networking

The day concluded with official closing remarks by Víctor Píriz, Secretary for Economy, Business, and Trade, who emphasized Extremadura’s commitment to leading the development of clean technologies through an inclusive and collaborative approach.

Attendees were then invited to enjoy a tasting of regional products, showcasing local gastronomy as a key part of the region’s appeal. The event wrapped up with B2B meetings and networking sessions with project promoters, essential steps toward unlocking investment opportunities and fostering industrial cooperation in Extremadura.
